Current Healthcare & Medical Sector Vacancies

Biomedical Scientist - Private Healthcare

Salary: £30,000 - £33,000
Location: South Wales

Salary £30,000 - £33,000 plus benefits This is a superb time to be joining this Private Hospital as a Biomedical Scientist for many reasons; the Hospital is in an exciting period of growth and is exceptionally well equipped and offers a friendly environment in which to work. The culture is one of continuous professional development and this role will suit you if you are keen to be involved with the entire Pathology Suite and you have a good commercial acumen. Working full time within the Pathology Department you will be HCPC registered and an experienced biomedical scientist who is used to working in a multi disciplinary CPA accredited laboratory. You will be qualified to Degree level or equivalent in a subject recognized by IBMS, HCPC. It is essential that you have worked within either the NHS or a private pathology laboratory and that you have experience gained from within blood sciences; if you have microbiology experience that would be an advantage. You will be providing a range of diagnostic analysis working to CPA/UKAS standards; you will deliver quality and timely results and work in an organized manner. You will take direction from the Pathology Manager as well as the Quality Managers and you will be involved with all aspects of pathology from sample receipt, stock control, and instrument maintenance, trouble shooting through to sample analysis; IQC and EQA analysis. It is important that you articulate using the English language well; both written and orally and you are comfortable speaking with internal stakeholders ranging from senior clinicians to procurement and IT personnel. Naturally, it goes without saying that you will be used to retaining patient confidentiality at all times. Opportunities to join this department seldom present as this really is a place where you get involved with many different aspects of BMS work. We are looking for you to be confident, friendly and enjoy “mucking in” and working as a team member. You really will get to know everything within the department and the department is very highly thought of; it is quite rare to have a comprehensively equipped pathology lab on site within a private hospital. As well as the normal tests MRSA is offered on site as is microbiology. The Hospital is growing and as such it is expected that this department will grow offering further career opportunities; currently you would be asked to work just one Saturday morning every four weeks. If you are a BMS who has a real passion for your work and you enjoy rolling your sleeves up then this is a superb place to work. It is important that you are I.T. proficient including the use of Excel. The salary is competitive and you will have 27 days holidays plus Bank Holidays on joining – there is a pension in place and other benefits. Send your covering letter and CV today. Interviews will be held towards the end of October.
