Head of Clinical Services/Matron

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
Location: South Wales

This is an opportunity to join a private healthcare provider and to provide both professional and managerial leadership and direction to nursing, allied health professional and medical staff. You will be responsible for the development of professional standards and for the continuous professional development of clinical personnel and you will be relied upon to strategically lead, improve and develop clinical services. Departments under your management will include Nursing Services, Theatre/Recovery/HSDU, Pharmacy, GP Services and Clinical Governance. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Medical Director you will be appointed as the ‘Responsible Manager’ working with the HIW (Health Inspectorate of Wales) and you will have lead responsibility for all clinical areas and inspections. This will be a very varied and challenging role and one requiring you to have superb organizational skills as well as communication skills. You will also need to be able to multi task and have the ability to work to time deadlines. You will review and establish clear lines of accountability and ensure that all relevant clinical staff are managed, supervised and trained appropriately with regard to clinical service provision; managing them through a strong governance framework and in accordance with regulatory requirements. You will work with the Finance Director to make sure that effective clinical and managerial structures are in place to achieve the financial and business objectives set, facilitating both clinical and cost effectiveness in achieving planned activity and delivery of all required performance targets. You will relish identifying opportunities for quality improvement and you will assist departments to establish quality audit and assurance procedures. Within this role you will be a key member of the Clinical Governance Advisory Board; working closely with the Chairman of the CGAB and Medical Director. With this in mind, your ability to analyze data and present data will be of paramount importance because you will be managing the collation of data for Clinical Governance reporting including the management of care pathway variance analysis and key performance indicators. You will be qualified to Masters Level and have the varied knowledge, skills and experience gained from within a clinical and managerial setting to fulfil this role.
